Let’s face it, sometimes in life we have to deal with difficult people—at work, in our neighborhoods, in our churches, and even in our own families. I have never been the type of person to make New Year’s resolutions. I guess I feel that any time of year is a good time to focus on self-improvement, so I haven’t made a habit of setting new goals at the beginning of a calendar year. However, I have a friend who chooses a theme word at the beginning of each calendar year and I have been intrigued by the concept. I like the idea of focusing on a particular word during each year —so this year, I have decided to focus on the word “surrender.”
