Meet the Authors

Linda Anderson founded Mom to Mom in 1991 because of her love for God’s Word and her love for moms. At that time, she could never have imagined how God would grow both her own family and Mom to Mom.

Linda is the author of the Heart Talk, Growing Together, and Inside Out Parenting curricula published by Mom to Mom Ministries.

Linda has a background as an educator and reading specialist. She has taught in both public and Christian schools and has also served as a pastor of adult education. She loves encouraging people—all people, but especially moms—through sharing God’s Word. She has traveled and spoken at conferences, retreats, and moms’ groups throughout the U.S. and beyond, but nowadays she stays a little closer to home, delighting in watching God at work as Mom to Mom moves into a new chapter.

Next to her grandchildren, Linda’s four favorite things are reading, taking long walks, coffee (especially with friends), and chocolate (just keeping it real here). Travel these days is mostly to either Ireland, where four wonderful grandkids currently live, or Tennessee, where four other equally wonderful grandkids are. Thankfully, the other four grandchildren live just over an hour away here in New England.

Since her beloved husband, Woody, slipped quietly into eternity in 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimers, Linda is learning more than ever about God’s sufficient grace, strength, and presence.

Linda loves encouraging moms as well as Titus 2 leaders with the Hope that transcends all life’s changing seasons: “. . . we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” (Hebrews 6:18b–19a)

Theresa Nelson and Linda Anderson have co-authored the latest Mom to Mom curriculum, Real Mom Life. Theresa first participated in the Mom to Mom program as a new mom in 2002. Since then she has served as a Titus 2 leader, speaker, writer, and more recently, as a board member with Mom to Mom Ministries. She has a professional background in high tech public relations, but discovered a new passion for encouraging and empowering moms after becoming a mom herself. She teaches classes on family and marriage at churches and parenting groups and delights in equipping the next generation of parents to create healthy families and healthy homes.

Theresa loves hiking and spending time in nature, especially on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. She also enjoys traveling and learning about different cultures—especially food! She loves to cook and host dinner parties for family and friends in her home.

Theresa and her husband, Don, live in Massachusetts with their two young adult daughters.

It all started when...

Early in 1991, three young mothers recognized in themselves and in their friends a great need: "We want to shape healthy Christian homes based on Biblical foundations, but where do we go for instruction that will filter the overwhelming overload of parenting advice through the strong sieve of Biblical truth? We long for experienced mothers as Godly role models, but our own families are far away and we have little contact with older moms. We often feel lonely and isolated in our 'mom-jobs' and yearn for interaction with other mothers struggling with the same issues."

Out of their need, these three dared to dream a big dream: "Couldn't we start a ministry for moms that would be Biblically based, educationally stimulating, and emotionally supportive? We'd like it to be a source of equipping, encouragement, and energizing for Christian mothers as well as an outreach to communities around us." These three women took their dream to the pastor of Grace Chapel and then to the Director of Women's Ministries, who contacted Linda Anderson. Linda had been teaching various parenting classes for years, and was well-equipped to formulate and direct such a program.

Thus Mom to Mom was born. As one might guess, it didn't just "happen." Countless hours of committee meetings, seemingly endless searches for "Titus 2 leaders," Childcare Coordinators and other workers, and most important of all, months of prayer ensued. We often found ourselves reminded of the familiar saying that we needed to "work as if everything depended on us and pray as if everything depended on God." And how faithful He has been, supplying far above all we could ask or think!
